Femi Kuti on Grammy snub: Not winning won’t spoil my year

Femi Kuti says he’s not sad he lost out at
the recently held Grammy Awards, adding
that a loss won’t spoil his year.
The Afrobeat singer’s No Place For My
DreamNo Place For My Dream album had
been nominated in the ‘Best World Music’
category but lost the award to a tie
between winners Gipsy
Kings and Ladysmith BlackMambazo.
‘Congrats to the winners.the nomination
already made my year not winning won’t
spoil it‘, Femi Kuti wrote on Twitter, hours
after the winners were announced.
Just like when he was last nominated in
2011, Kuti did not attend the awards this
year. He stayed back in Lagos and
performed at the New Afrika Shrine on
the night of the awards. He was
represented by his sister Yeni Kuti.
The award was presented by veteran
singer Cynthia Lauper at the 56th Grammy
Awards pre-telecast held on January 26,
2014.
